AMOURPHOUS POLY-ALPHA-OLEFINS

VESTOPLAST®

VESTOPLAST® amorphous poly-alpha-olefins (APAO) offer a broad range of co- and terpolymers of ethene, propene and butene-1 as raw materials for various applications.

Amourphous Poly-Alpha-Olefins from Evonik Oxeno

Under variation of monomer composition, molecular weight and chemical modification optimum values are achieved for properties like hardness, melt viscosity, crystallinity and rate of crystallization.
The production process allows us to offer both predominately amorphous, soft grades as well as harder, partially crystalline grades.

What is VESTOPLAST®?

VESTOPLAST® is a range of amorphous poly-alpha-olefins (APAO) produced through a continuous low-pressure polymerization process using ethylene, propylene, and butene-1. These polymers are primarily utilized as raw materials for hot melt adhesives across various industries, including hygiene, automotive, packaging, and woodworking. VESTOPLAST® is designed to deliver a balanced performance with optimal adhesion and cohesion properties, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

What is VESTOPLAST® used for?

VESTOPLAST® is suitable for...

  • Hygienic applications (e.g. baby diapers, femine care, adult incontinence care)
  • Woodworking applications (e.g. edge banding, profile wrapping)
  • Packaging applications (e.g. paper lamination, cardboard fruit boxes, bookbanding, labels)
  • Automotiv applications (e.g. headliner, door panels, filters, car lamps, insulating felts)
  • Carpet/Textile Flooring (e.g. carpet tiles, wall to wall carpets, car carpets)
  • Bitumen (e.g. membranes for roofing and bridges, road constructions)
  • Various applications (e.g. cable fillings, masterbatches, mattrasses, shoes, white goods, window and solar cell sealants)

Where is VESTOPLAST® produced and how is it transported?

In our state-of-the-art C4 Verbund, we process various raw material streams from steam crackers or refineries. The product is produced at Evonik's site in Marl, Germany. VESTOPLAST® is available as granules in 20 kg polyethylene bags, stacked on pallets in quantities of 1,000 kg. Usually, we ship by truck (FTL = 20 mt) or by container via ship (FCL= 8 mt or 16 mt). A special wax powdering technigque improves the flowability of the material.
