New ways of working: since 2016, the Performance Materials segment has been offering successful university graduates the opportunity to apply to the three-year International Production and Technology Program, or IPAT for short. Bastian Alexander Sakowski had already completed his dual studies, an internship abroad, and the Evonik Master's scholarship program, before he began working as an IPAT participant at the butadiene plant in Marl in January 2019. As an assistant plant manager, he deals with, among other things, digitization topics such as the Digital Worker, Digital Workspace and Digital Plant. The IPAT program is aimed at young engineers and chemists who, after completing their studies, are interested in pursuing an international career in production and technology. The IPAT participants will gain experience at two locations at Evonik. They are trained at a production plant in Germany for about one and a half years, after which they spend the same period of time working abroad. They receive support from a mentor throughout the training period and take part in training courses and networking events.
