A role model for others
Our Butadiene plant in Marl has now won its third platinum Evonik Safety Award in honor of its 30 years without a single reportable occupational accident.
It hardly gets any better than this: our Butadiene plant in Marl has now won the platinum Evonik Safety Award for the third time. This is Evonik’s highest honor for occupational safety, and the company awards it only to plants that have gone 20 years without an accident with lost-worktime. With thirty years without a reportable accident, our Butadiene plant is one of the top performers of occupational safety at Evonik. Caspar Gammelin and Magdalena Wagner from the Performance Materials Board of Management used this impressive achievement as an occasion to thank our plant employees personally at a small ceremony held mid-November in the plant control room.
“You can all be very proud of this outstanding accomplishment,” said Performance Materials HR Director Magdalena Wagner, directly addressing plant employees. “We want to intelligently shape the future of our ChemicalBusiness and position ourselves among the top players in the industry—and safe, efficient processes and workflows in our plants are crucial steps on the way to that future.” In addition to yet another platinum safety award, our plant has also expanded its capacity by 90 percent since it began operations in 1972, now producing over 220,000 metric tons of product each year. The energy efficiency of our plant has been improved continuously as well. “You’ve done an exemplary job of intelligently shaping our ChemicalBusiness in the Butadiene plant. You are a role model for others,” Wagner observed.
