Greater involvement in the Global Compact

In the future, the Group will advocate the protection of people and the environment and promote human and employee rights even more intensively.

Evonik has been a member of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the world’s largest and most important multi-stakeholder corporate responsibility initiative, since 2009. Now the company is stepping up its active involvement. Stefan Haver, Head of Corporate Responsibility, has been elected to the Steering Committee of the Global Compact Network Germany for two years as Evonik's representative. The Steering Committee is composed of representatives of the participating companies, civil so-ciety and politics. Alongside Evonik, the companies represented on the Steering Committee from October 2017 will be BASF, Bosch, Daimler, Deutsche Bahn and OSRAM Licht.
The Global Compact was set up in 2000 by the former UN General Secretary, Kofi Annan. Its vision is a sustainable global economy that benefits everyone.
By joining the UN Global Compact, Evonik gave an undertaking that, within its sphere of influence, it would respect and promote labor rights and human rights, avoid discrimination, proactively protect people and the environment, and fight against corruption. In addition, we intend to step up our contribution to achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Evonik already supports these goals through its sustainability activities in many areas.
