Evonik assumes responsibility for its business, its employees, the environment and the wider society. For us, acting responsibly and economic success are not mutually exclusive. We began anchoring ecological and social criteria in our corporate decisions at an early stage, with a view to forging a new, sustainable future. In this way, we continuously develop our products and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness and thus make a contribution to sustainability.

One example is the outstanding yield of our globally unique C4 Verbund at the Marl site: All hydrocarbons present in the C4 cut are recycled, thus saving resources. The principles of the global Responsible Care initiative and the guiding principle of sustainable development are thus fixed aspects of our corporate guidelines and culture. In addition, all areas of the business line are certified, and operate a quality and environmental management system in accordance with, the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN 14001 and the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).

Since November 2021, Evonik's C4 business line has had ISCC-Plus and ISCC-EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certification for its production locations in Marl and Antwerp. This certifies the traceability of sustainable raw materials in the supply chain.
